Scotlands leading house clearance company continues to follow up on it's formal commitment of halving the amount of waste it sends to landfill by 2013. In the month of May 2011 the company achieved a 40.2% reduction in the amount of waste it sent to landfill compared to the same month in 2010. "Recycling an additional 48 tonnes in just one month was achieved following an investment in a fleet of hook loading vehicles that enable us to better segregate our waste" said Neil Montgomery, managing director of Vacman. These versatile trucks allow us to drop a container of waste at our premises uplift a fresh container and drive away in just minutes. The waste is held secure in the container until the segregation process begins when waste is graded and placed into separate hook-lift containers. After segregation, containers full of Wood, Metal, Electrical goods, Fridges, Plastics and Glass are uplifted by our trucks and transported to our reycling partners. It's a win win situation. Not only are we saving the environment the company saves around £5,000 per month on our landfill charges. Because of their versatility we expect these vehicles to pay for themselves in a much shorter period than conventional trucks. Several different bodies can be fitted to an individual vehicle. The company currently use a range of flat bodies, cages and wheelie bin lifing bodies. Vacman intially committed to the government sponsored Halving Waste to Landfill intiative in 2010.
